RooftopOS

Founding design partner

Built inside the dealership. Proven one workflow at a time.

RooftopOS is developed against a store that sells cars for a living, in the ordinary course of business — not in a demonstration environment.

What is deployed

Harte INFINITI, running acquisition in production.

The operational problem

Retail-worthy vehicles were leaving through channels the store did not control, and the three direct-buy paths ran as three separate habits with three separate paper trails — no single record of what was offered, by whom, on what basis.

What was deployed against it

AutoCurb runs on the dealership's own domain and under its own brand, with appraisal authority enforced as a role and every adjustment, approval and consent attributable to a person and a time. The desk, the service lane and the accounting office all use it daily.

Valuation — modeled range

Modeled

$20,200$22,400

Modeled range. Assumptions drive this output. It is produced from the assumptions a dealership enters for its own rooftop, and it is neither live production data, a measured result, nor a figure RooftopOS stands behind as the value of any vehicle.

Model inputs

  • Book source and waterfall configured for the rooftop
  • Comparable context for the same year, trim and drivetrain, over a window the store sets
  • Reconditioning assumption for the lane the vehicle arrived through
  • Condition evidence captured at intake
  • Market adjustment the store sets and can see inside of

The range is a starting position for the appraisal conversation. The number the store offers is set by a person, and the console records who set it.

Illustrative product data. The vehicles, VINs, dates and the modeled range are fictional demonstration values held in one configuration file, so every VIN shown can be checked against its own check digit. No dealership, customer or appraisal record is reproduced, the range is modeled rather than measured, and the controls above are shown rather than operable.

What the partnership answers

Four questions a working store answers that a demo cannot.

  • Whether the workflow survives a working week

An acquisition step that only holds on a quiet Tuesday is not a step. The partnership tests whether approval, valuation and consent stay in order through a store's ordinary week, including the days nobody has time for software.

  • Whether three acquisition lanes can share one record

Off the open web, off the service lane, and from a customer in the showroom are three different conversations. The partnership answers whether all three can reach one vehicle record without any being flattened into the shape of another.

  • Where authority actually has to sit

Who may adjust a number, who approves it, and what must be attached before an offer leaves are configuration questions with real consequences. They get settled against a real desk rather than an assumption about one.

  • What has to be reconstructable a year later

The record's value is tested by the questions that arrive long after delivery. The partnership is where it becomes clear which events, documents and approvals must be retained for that to be a lookup rather than an investigation.

Measurement method

Outcome measurement begins with a written baseline and agreed success criteria.

Metrics chosen after the fact are not evidence. A result publishes with its methodology, sample and window, once the dealership has approved it.

  1. 01

    Observe

Sit with the workflow as the store runs it and write down where the record breaks.

  2. 02

    Deploy

One application into the ordinary course of business, configured to the store.

  3. 03

    Baseline

Record how the store performs now, and agree success criteria before go-live.

  4. 04

    Review

Read progress against those criteria with the people whose work is measured.

  5. 05

    Decide

Compare the result to the baseline, then expand, adjust, or stop on the evidence.

Evidence before expansion.

A scoped sixty-day evaluation on one rooftop, with a measured baseline at the start, success metrics agreed in writing before go-live, two formal reviews, and a deployment decision at the end.

This is an evaluation, not a trial. It is designed so that at day sixty both sides are looking at the same numbers and the decision is obvious to whoever has to sign it.

What the store brings

  • An executive sponsor at the store — GM, GSM, or owner
  • A named day-to-day owner who will be in the product
  • Access to the inventory feed and the website that publishes advertised prices
  • Agreement to establish a baseline before go-live, and to review at day thirty and day sixty

Commercial terms

  • One rooftop.
  • Commercial terms for the evaluation period are set in the scoping conversation and confirmed in writing before it starts.
  • Nothing converts automatically. Deployment starts when you sign an order form.
  • Your data is yours throughout, and is exported on request at any point, including after the evaluation ends.
